The Wasatch Back Hazmat Team is a cooperative effort between the Public Safety entities of Summit and Wasatch Counties.  Planning for the team began shortly after the 2002 Winter Olympics and was realized in the Spring of 2005.  The team is responsible for all Hazardous Materials responses in both Summit and Wasatch Counties.  The team also supports surrounding agencies on the Wasatch Front through mutual aid agreements.

The Wasatch Back Hazmat Team is capable of making level A entries, spill containment, leak containment, chemical identification, rescue, environmental protection, victim decontamination, WMD response, WMD detection, and are a support unit for local bomb response units.
