Heart Saver/BLS Instructor Courses

The Instructor Course is a 2-day program designed to prepare AHA instructors to disseminate the science, skills, and philosophy of resuscitation programs to participants enrolled in AHA courses.

AHA instructors are the best tool the AHA has to fulfill its mission- to reduce disability and death caused by heart disease and stroke.  The more skilled instructors the AHA ECC Programs have, the more participants will be trained in CPR and ECC.  By increasing the number of bystanders prepared and willing to activate the EMS system and provide CPR, early defibrillation, and advanced life support, the AHA will be able to significantly reduce disability and death from heart attacks, cardiac arrest, and stroke.

ACLS and PALS

  • Scheduled as needed.
  • Renewal fees are $150/per person for multiple students

Please contact Shelly Vetterli - svetterli@pcfd.org for more information.

The American Heart Association’s Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support course is for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital.   Through the ACLS course, providers will enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.  ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is based on new science evidence from the 2005 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and a new teaching methodology. The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.
