Daylight Savings is March 11th – Change Your Batteries

Each year approximately 500,000 home fires occur in the U.S., resulting in thousands of deaths and over 100,000 serious injuries. Most of these tragedies could be avoided if smoke alarms were maintained properly.

Change Smoke Detector Batteries Once a Year

Batteries in smoke alarms should be changed annually, and smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years. The Park City Fire District suggests doing this either at the beginning of Daylight Savings or at the end of Daylight Savings, so “When you change your clock, change your batteries”, once per year.

A working smoke alarm alerts you and your family during the early stages of a fire while you have time to make a safe exit. This Sunday, March 11th, when you change your clock… change your battery.

A message from the Park City Fire District.
