PCFD implemented a fulltime non-firefighter EMT program. In this new
response model, two AEMT ambulances will be staffed for 12 hours daily
during peak transports times. This model keeps firefighters and paramedics
within the PCFD area and allows a hiring pipeline for new firefighters. We
hired 8 AEMTs who completed a 40-hour orientation course, and all 8
started working 12-hour shifts in December.
