Several Firefighters from Park City Fire District and Wasatch Fire have been participating in a Trench Rescue Technician Certification Course this past week. This course is taught by PCFD instructors, David Horning, Eric Gomm and Matt Provost. The firefighters will finish the class by taking a written and skills test by UFRA.
Skills taught:
Rescuer safety, understanding OSHA regulations involving trenches and excavations.
Preplanning
Assessing soil composition/configuration
Cave-in evaluation Stabilization and shoring using wood Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic shores with the use of trench rescue data sheets
Victim rescue/recovery Incident termination
